2. Take the last ferry across to Valletta

The Sliema to Valletta ferry runs into the evening, and crossing Marsamxett Harbour after dark, with the bastions floodlit above the water, is the cheapest spectacular thing you can do in Malta.

3. Walk the Gzira and Sliema promenade after dinner

The whole seafront from Gzira through Sliema turns into a slow-moving parade once the heat lifts: families, runners, couples, ice cream, and yachts creaking in the marina.

4. Eat late, like a local

Maltese kitchens keep late hours in summer. Dinner at ten is entirely normal, and Gzira's restaurant scene has become one of the island's most interesting places to test that.

5. See Valletta lit up from the Three Cities

Cross to Birgu or Senglea and look back. The Grand Harbour at night, with Valletta glowing across the water, is the view that sells the island to people who thought they had seen it.
